Hero School

Hero School develops educational programs that enhance the skills and confidence of individuals to positively influence the world in which they live.

Hero School's educational programs are based on a belief that supporting an individual to find a secure heroic identity for themselves is an important step towards building good citizens. In this respect, Hero School courses owe a debt to the following insights of cultural anthropologist Ernest Becker and mythologist Joseph Campbell:

• “our central calling, our main task on the planet is the heroic.....it goes deeper into human nature than anything else” (Ernest Becker)
• hero myths "teach us how to live in this world” and “connect us to the transcendent” (Joseph Cambell)

Hero School's educational programs aim to help people to develop their "hero power" in three important dimensions:

• enhanced ability to successfully confront life-tests through clearer decision making
• greater self-awareness
• better contribution to friends, families and communities
